i celebrated my 36th birthday on sunday (thanks to all of you for the happy wishes!), and it was a lovely day. weekend, really. the girls took me to the movies, i got to spend some me-time with my sewing machine, Nick and Kahlin made homemade pasta for dinner, we ate chocolate cake, and i got a fancy new 50mm lens. yep, it's awesome!
on monday, my peanut baby project for Jo-Ann Stores went live and the response has been awesome... a few you have already made up your own peanut babies!! really, there is nothing better than inspiring people to make things! fact: i have the coolest job ever.
on tuesday, i stopped by Sew Sweetness for Purse Palooza to review the green living market bag by Bari J. this is one great bag! if you're interested in making your own, you can find it available here as a pdf or here in paper form.
yesterday - spoiler alert: this might be the coolest thing from the whole week - i sent the meridian cardi pattern (both girls and womens version) out to testers!! can you believe that one super fab tester already finished one? *cough* Sew What Sherlock *cough* craziness, i tell you! and SO very great.
here's one of the first versions i made of the meridian cardi, in a girls size 8. Kahlin loves it because when she twirls it spins... which reminds me that i still need to finish the sleeves so she can wear it! confession: i've been wearing the one i made myself without finishing the sleeves. ha! sometimes i just lose a little steam at the last step of a project. anyone else??
i'm hoping to have at least the girls version (sizes 5-14) ready to go before KCW starts on the 21st! and man, do i have a lot of things planned for that week. for starters, my poor girls have zero pants.
today i'm sharing a ladybug cape tutorial as part of the Handmade Halloween series from Palak of Make it Handmade and Heather of Feather's Flights. this cape was for Kahlin's costume two years ago and it's a project that (at six) she was able to help put together. plus, the girls are still using it for dress-up. yay capes!
