i made quite a few stockings this year for christmas, and we even kept some for our very own mantel! our washi taped "i heart santa" mantel, no less... have i mentioned that few rolls of washi tape and a wall is all you really need to entertain two little girls long enough to stitch up one more stocking?
the blue patchwork stocking is Nick's. scraps are mostly Denyse Schmidt with some Blitzen (BasicGrey for Moda) and Winterkist (Monica Solorio Snow for Lecien) thrown in.
i used the template for the falling flakes stocking to cut out a piece of batting, and then stitched fabric scraps to the batting using a similar method as the quilt as you go in the falling flakes stocking tutorial. i waited to stitch the quilting lines until all of the fabric was attached to the batting, using aurifil 40 wt from the Simply Color collection.
we were very happy to retire Nick's previous stocking. and yes, that name is drawn on with glitter glue.
happy stitching!

The new stockings look great!
ReplyDeletelove them!
ReplyDeleteLove them! I plan to make some for Christmas this year :)
ReplyDeleteAll of your stockings turned out wonderfully! I must admit I kind of love the glitter glue - so camp - but your version is so much more tasteful. ;-)
