after stitching up my own itty-bitty adorable cross-stitch version of blast, the quilt as a gift for the lovely Susan of crafterhours, i knew i couldn't keep this one to myself. you may remember this pattern as a quilt i designed with Thomas Knauer's Asbury (actual quilt pattern still in the works). since the quilt was an enlarged version of my original block design, it was a fun experiment in scale to shrink it down to the tiny.

i stitched my mini-blast with waste cloth on a print from Lotta Jansdotter's Bella collection and then centered my piece in an embroidery hoop for hanging. to imitate the look of the original quilt, i used a variety of hues of the secondary colors (blues and tans).
on the back of the hoop, i tucked the excess fabric under a circle of felt and added a little heart. i used a fabric glue stick to hold the felt circle in place and and tacked down the heart with one little stitch.
i hope you're inspired to stitch up your own mini blast! when you do, make sure to share pics in the imagine gnats flickr group.
