two nights ago, my husband and i talked to our 8yo daughter about the school shooting in Newtown. we sat together and promised her that there is so much good in this world. yesterday, and again today, i have been brought to tears by how lucky i am to know so very many people that prove that over and over again. thank you, friends.
when i shared my personal reflections, i was blown away by your support, by your comments and emails and people passing along my posts to friends and family. i want to give a virtual hug to all of you! and please know that if you emailed or commented, i will certainly be responding, even if it takes a few days.
now... on to something new. looking forward.

introducing ABCs of Love: 26 Ways to Pass it On, a project to encourage all of us to find simple ways to share our love within our own communities and families. there is so much that we cannot control in this crazy world, but i know that we can absolutely find time and ways to show those around us that we care.
i thought i'd start at the end, with Z is for zip code. because why not, right? and because we all have people in our lives that can so easily go unnoticed. and because, just maybe, a special note to one of those people might cause occasion for a smile, a smile that just might get passed on, and a day that just might seem a little brighter.
over the next few days, i challenge you to write a note to your mail carrier. just to say "thanks, and i hope you're having a nice day." i thought that this mail-line would make a cute graphic for a little note card, so i made it into a printable pdf (available for download here). this is a great time to involve any kiddos in your household too, which is why i left it in black and white... perfect for coloring!
my card is printed, the crayons are ready, and i look forward to asking my kiddos who else they'd like to give a card... "just because."

if you feel so moved, choose a letter. join us. be the good.
happy sharing!

I love this idea! And came up with an awesome one. I'm excited and so is Team Dorsey.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Such a fun idea. We've had the same mail carrier for seven years. I really should acknowledge her. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea! The perfect way to deal with an awful situation: make the world a better place : )
ReplyDeleteWe just made some cookies, so I think we will leave those for our letter carrier, too.
Cute idea :o) Although post doesn't work the same here, so it wouldn't really work (we don't have mail boxes, just holes in the door to post things through), Would sending a card to everyone in the block work instead?
ReplyDeleteRachael, what a great idea! I predict it will have a ripple effect, and bring smiles to all of the ABCers!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful idea...I've got my project in the works! :)
