last week, i taught my first two classes at sewn studio. i was a teeny bit nervous, but both classes went smoothly and everyone made really awesome pillows! we have a pillow-of-the-month series and i was tasked with may (um, obviously). we made a modified version of the pin-tuck pleated pillow tutorial i did for Stumbles & Stitches as part of the Feather Your Nest stitch-along, a pin-tuck pleated panel pillow, if you will. and yay for alliteration, right?

i had so much fun teaching this technique to some very lovely ladies, and i'm so looking forward to teaching again. though i didn't get pictures of the pillows from my first class, i can assure you that they were every bit as lovely as these three from the second. and, yes, all three of these pillows include Daisy Janie fabrics! everyone showed up to class with their fabrics picked out and it was quite a happy surprise.

while we're talking work, today i spent some time putting together a "staff pick" fat quarter bundle. i started with the aqua hopscotch print from vintage modern, and built off the aquas and grays. i can hear the wheels turning in Jessica's head, as she tries to top this with her bundle... since, of course, it's a competition to see whose bundle sells out first.

but aside from showing off about how cool it is that someone actually pays me to do this (because, let's admit, that's totally cool!), i have good news for you! i brought home with me 1/2 yard of each of these fabrics to make two more FQBs... one for me, and one for a lucky winner! i thought it would be the perfect addition to the awesome sponsor prizes i have lined up for Sew, Mama, Sew! giveaway day. so check back here first thing monday morning to enter and see what other great prizes will be up for grabs :)
in the meantime, i hope you're having a great weekend, and i've got some sewing to do.....

Your job is so cool : )
ReplyDeleteLove the pillows and the FQB - perfect pick for Giveaway Day!
Congratulations on your success! The pillows are so beautiful. I wish I still lived in the area so I could take a class with you. Your fabric pick is very pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pilows! and I'm sew excited you're doing a fabric giveaway. I can not wait for next week!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your job! The pillows are awesome, the bundle is awesome, and I'm hoping I get to win some of it! Love it.
ReplyDeleteHey, well done you. Those pillows are fantastic. Will this stay only an inhouse class or become an online tutorial - afraid it is too far from Oz to attend a class (much as I would love to see you and Sewn Studio.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Karen.
