i don't do custom orders all that often anymore, but every once in a while i get a really good one and it makes me so happy! this week i finished up such an order: a brooksher diaper bag and percy rag doll (made from reclaimed t-shirts). i had a lot of creative license on this order (yay!), as after picking the main fabric for the bag, the customer gave me the go-ahead to run with it. i was also excited that the main fabric she chose was dandy lion by Alexander Henry, which i had been looking for an excuse to buy ;) luckily, i was still able to find some in stock at JAQs Fabrics.
the fabrics paired with the dandy lion are: echo by Lotta Jansdotter, painters canvas in grass by Michael Miller, and the neighborhood - orange check by Monica Lee for Timeless Treasures. the custom suede imagine gnats tags are made by Remember Wynn.
my favorite part about this bag is the added panel that acts like a divider. it attaches to one side with a magnetic snap, so that you basically have an extra huge pocket. i spent quite a bit of time getting it right and i love how it came out! also (and i forgot to take pics of this), there's a key fob attached in the side seam which is a nice addition for those of us who are always losing keys in the bottom of our bags.
and then there's this little guy. can i marry him when i grow up? ;) he's made out of reused materials, with the exception of stuffing and embroidery thread, and he is super soft and cuddly. plus, his little legs have pieces of cartoon monsters on them. and stripey hair? i love it!
thanks for humoring my photo overload! now i must get to the post office to send these guys off to their rightful home. i have one more order i need to work through this weekend, and then i'm hoping to have some time to finish up the tiny pocket tank i cut out last week.
what are you working on this weekend??

ReplyDeleteOh. My. Goodness!! I love them both!! The bag is fabulous, from the fabric choices to the asymmetrical top portion. Is it your own design, or is there a pattern out there somewhere? I have a cousin to whom I have promised a diaper bag and haven't coded what style to make.
