anyway... i ended up with some echo scraps (from my "sekret exchange" present!!) and was determined to do something with them, so here they are:
i think that if you look at the zig-zags from far enough away, you can't tell what a disaster the stitching is. maybe? well, these two will definitely be staying right here at home to hang on our tree.

Hey! Lol! This scarf is my fav! As far as ornaments go, I have no crafty ability, but my great-grandmother gave left me an ornament made from tin. It's a carousel, and when the lights on the tree heat it up, it spins around. I love it. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

Love the echo stockings, and they don't look amiss at all! My poor mother has a collection of angel ornaments I made from q-tips and scraps of lace and ribbon. As a crafty child I never let lack of proper materials hold me back! Love the scarf, that one is my favorite color of all the amh pastry line voiles.
ReplyDeleteI'm not entering for the scarf, but just saying "hey" and hope you feel better! I think the stockings are cute. Believe it or not, I have been totally stressed about making my "sekret" gift ... baking is really my talent, and I've been feeling like whatever I make won't live up to whatever cool things everyone else is making. Is that completely nuts, or what?! Ugh, deep-seated inferiority complex surrounded by creative people!
ReplyDeleteMy brothers and I each have tiny wooden soldier ornaments in different colors. I have really good memories about looking for those three little guys in the tree every year! Now they hang in different trees, in different states, but they still hold the same great memories. Definitely one of my favorite ornaments!
ReplyDeleteHello sweet lady! Thank you so much for linking to my tutorial and my shop. I love your Echo stockings! So fun to see them being made by someone else, I think they turned out super cute. That mustard color is so fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely entering the giveaway for the scarf. LOVE it.
Hard to say what my favorite ornament is. Definitely the handmade ones by friends and family!
PS: Forgot to tell you we got your Christmas card. Beautiful! Thank you. You'll be receiving our emailed family greeting, ahem, when uh, the photos are taken.
One of my favorite ornaments is a little crocheted stocking I made when I was in high school. It is red, white and green and measures about 3 inches tall. Now, if I could just find the pattern I could make a few more for our tree.
ReplyDeletersgrandinetti@yahoo(dot)com
I hope you are recovering well, RG!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love these scarves and I am going to get one today for my very hard to shop for mom-in-law! I think she will love it!
My favorite ornaments don't even hang on my own tree yet- my mom made them when I was little They are called Dolls of the World and each one is from a different country! They are so detailed and cute! My mom was a crafter in the 70's and 80's and won all these awards for her ornaments and Barbie clothes, so I guess my creative mind comes from her! and she taught me how to sew...!
My favorite ornaments are the ones my kids made when they were little. We laugh every year when we put them on the tree.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the give away
being a peachey my favorite is the pair of peaches we have that stand for love & fertility!

ReplyDeletelove the scarf- very pretty! i love handmade ornaments- there are tons on our tree... and when you have the tree lit with just the christmas lights you can't see any of the mishaps in stitching ;)

ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway, thanks for a chance. One of my favorite ornaments is a glass circle with an etching of my oldest child's footprint from when she was born. Now that she is almost 12, it is amazing how fast time goes by.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful- I've been drooling over these scarves- love your choice of fabrics :)
ReplyDeleteI used to have this ornament that had an ice cream cone on the bottom of a red ball. Every year I took a tiny bite of the cone--gross, I know. One year we had a flood in our basement apartment and the ornament was destroyed, much to my husband's delight! :)
ReplyDeleteI keep looking at the scrappy stocking ornaments, and thinking 'I should make some of those-they are adorable!' Maybe I will break out my scrap stash this afternoon and get some going... The scarf is GORGEOUS too! Hope your arm is healing up well-I know that it's so HARD to just not do anything!

ReplyDeleteAs for an ornament story... Every year since he was born my husband has received a special ornament from his mom. But wouldn't you know it... he'd go an marry a Jewish girl {me!}.
My favorite ornament of all time is a candy cane smocked ornament that my mom made years ago. Every year growing up, I made sure I was the one who hung it on the Christmas tree. My mom graciously gave it to me when I was all grown up and it is now the most fought over ornament in my house!

ReplyDeletekristie_keely(at)yahoo(d0t)com

ReplyDeleteMy favorite ornament is this porcelain ballerina I have had for probably 20+ years!! I danced for 13 years of my life and have had to leave it behind, but I love this ornament and it goes on the tree every year!
ReplyDeleteLove the scarf colors. When I was a child there was a special angel ornament that I loved. This is our first Christmas in our first home, so none of our ornaments have that special history yet, but I am hoping it develops!

ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago I decided to make a huge number of new stuffed fabric ornaments for the family tree. We were still churning them out conveyor belt style on the morning of Christmas Eve when my mum suddenly looked at the pile of ornaments, and the tree and we realised they would NEVER all fit on there lol. Maybe I should dig out the remaining unused ones for the next giveaway!
What a pretty scarf.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite ornaments are the ones my children made when they were younger. Actually, they did not make them, they scribbled all over them and were extremely proud of their accomplishments.
What a pretty scarf! I'm giving away two AMH voile scarves too, but mine are just plain jane scarves, not infinity ones :D
ReplyDeleteOraments? Well, my favourite ornament is a wax one that my mom gave me. She had a whole set of them and when my sister and I were young we were expected to treat them like glass if we touched them, and they always seemed extra special. My mom gave me (and my sister) one from the set a few years back, and it's still my favourite of all. (Although this year I made a bunch of Matryoshka doll ornaments for my family, and they might be my favourite just for the moment...)
Pretty! Thanks for the giveaway. I love making ornaments each year with my daughter--lots of glitter.

ReplyDeleteGosh what a beautiful scarf. I'd love to wear this. We have collected hundreds of ornaments over the 31 years and 3 children in our marriage. The plan was the boys would take theirs when they married. The problem? They are all still single and transient and we have downsized so they sit in boxes. We don't even put up a tree :( Someday we'll open them all up and do it all again
ReplyDeleteb.moews@gmail.com

However they had very little money, so bought a few pieces every year, so we have Shepherds twice the size of The Holy Family and the three Kings are tiny! ReplyDeleteI love handmade Christmas ornaments. The crazier they are, the better. Currently our tree is covered in ornaments from my childhood and my husband's childhood. Lots of hand-embroidered birds, crocheted animals and even a festive felt seahorse! (or possibly a Loch Ness Monster.. I'm not really sure). Thanks for the giveaway!
I just love this scarf and I bet it is super soft. My favorite ornaments are the ones my kids made in preschool where their precious little faces are on them.

Lovely scarf! Every year my Mom would take us to the Hallmark store and let us pick out an ornament for the tree. And when we've gotten married, she's fished through the Christmas boxes and pulled out all of our ornaments so that our first Christmas tree would have ornaments on it. Now I love looking through my ornaments with my kids and showing them what I picked at their age or showing them what I made in first grade for example. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a generous giveaway. Thanks for participating. The scarf is lovely. We have lots of ornaments. My favorite ones might be the ones we have picked out on vacation.
ReplyDeleteLove the scarf... beautiful colors! My favorite ornaments are the ones my kids make each year. I love unwrapping them and hanging them on the tree and remembering when they made them. Happy Holidays!

When my eldest son was little they made Christmas ornaments at school. He was so proud of his he wouldn't let me put it on the tree it had to go above his bed and he slept with it there for a year.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scarf thanks for the giveaway.
I love the scarf! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteThose ornaments are so cute! And the scarf is lovely. :) A funny ornament story: there are two ornaments in my parents' collection that they've had since before they had kids, and that my sister and I used to fight over when we were little. We both wanted to be the one to put them on the tree. And now as grown-ups whenever we come to those two ornaments we look at one another awkwardly and then have one of those "You can put it on..." "No, you go ahead..." moments. So ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteWhen my daughter was 2, she made a felt tree shape ornament and glued googly eyes all over it! Still one of my favorite ornaments.
ReplyDeleteThe first year my husband and I celebrated christmas, our christmas tree fell over at 2 in the morning. My husband was already awake and stood the tree back up and then realized he was stuck so yelled for me until I woke up. It's funny to me now, but not at the time.
ReplyDeleteI've just taken part in a scrappy Christmas decoration swap and mailed mine off today, I received some gorgeous little stockings - with chocolates inside! Now we need to get a tree to hang them on! I made birds for my partner and some little houses, will have to wait and see what she thinks.
ReplyDeleteA very gorgeous scarf I can just imagine how lovely it feels - would love to win, thanks so much for the chance!
my mom would LOVE this scarf! She always took us to pick out our own special ornament on Christmas Eve and then we became adults and moved out, she presented us with a box full of our ornaments. It was such a nice way to start our adult lives.
ReplyDeleteYour talent continues to astound me. I love the scarf! I am so proud to be your friend! Love you, Jen H.
ReplyDeleteI would love this scarf. My favorite ornaments are the mercury glass ones... they are all crackly and look beautiful next to the white lights on the tree.
ReplyDeleteOne year my mother made gingerbread ornaments for the tree. They had extra spices and were for decorating. The house smelled delicious for all of christmas. The next year they came out again and we used them again. And some of the children may or may not have nibbled on them. This went on for probably 5 years. Yes they lasted that long and yes people still nibbled on them. Sounds gross now...
ReplyDeletePretty! I made mini elf stocking ornaments this year. Thank you. mamalusco at ortelco dot net
ReplyDeletePretty scarf! My favorite ornament is one from my childhood that has a pinwheel in it. When you hang it right over a tree light, it spins. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I don't have a favorite ornament - I love them all! I do like making new ornaments with my daughter every year. That's a special tradition.
ReplyDeleteThanks for offering this!

An ornament anecdote... One year I made Christmas ornaments that looked like gingerbread people. They weren't real gingerbread. Like there was three cups of salt in the recipe. While we were out of the house, our basset hound ate several of them from the tree. All that was left was the ribbon. You've never seen a dog drink so much water! Thanks for the chance to win your lovely scarf.
