the end of kcwc day three had me feeling a little low in the motivation department (see midweek stretch post from yesterday for more about that). finally, i just kind of went for it on the pjs and cut out a shirt for B with a simplicity pattern i've had for ages and never used. and not even for any really good reason; it just didn't look that fantastic, and the styling and pictures on the pattern itself weren't exactly inspiring me.
but by the time i got home from work last night, i was pretty excited to get this shirt put together. and holy cuteness! it's awesome :)

and that, folks, is why we do this. for that magic moment when something comes together and somehow becomes more than the sum of its parts. not to mention the smile on B's face this morning when i showed her the shirt.
(after the jump) a few notes about the pattern, construction, etc.
i was very unsure about this whole cuffs and neckline with ribbed knits thing and actually considered scrapping that part of the pattern all together, but i'm glad i didn't. the cuffs on the arms were really simple and i think will make the shirt more comfy and pajama-feeling, if that's a thing.
the neckline was a bit trickier, mostly because i had never done this particular thing before and i just really had trouble visualizing it from the pattern instructions. again, super cute and i'm really glad i did it. i love the tan color for the knit. and bonus, i just happened to have it in my stash and it matches perfectly! also, how cute is this tag (from sewn studio)?
the hem has this nice detail on the bottom. i was really surprised that the pattern had these nice little details, and i feel a little silly that it's been sitting in the cabinet for so long. i would recommend lengthening (or at least double-checking the length of) the shirt. i added about 1.5" and i probably could have added up to another inch.
next on the list: pants to match for B and a set for K with the owl fabric from this same line. then we'll see where inspiration takes me ;) happy friday!

I saw this on the flikr pool. It was one of my favs. Great job!!!!
